2005 Light Waves , No Art Gallery, Milan, Italy
Light Waves takes inspiration from a basic physic theory: light is an undulatory phenomenon.The aim of project is to give the audience a strong physical experience of the pure essence of frequency. The project stems from research on the relation between light and sound conducted by Alterazioni Video in collaboration with Markus Ghur, Ph.d., in the physics lab of Frei University in Berlin . The empirical discovery that these waves could be converted into sound by aphoto-microphone is the base of the group’s music research. Its objective is to find the natural correspondence between these two elements, between visible and invisible, playing with their frequencies.The sounds created are the most objective translations of light frequencies because the translations are totally analogical; The light control system enables a variety of light sources to be played as if they were a polyphonic musical instrument.The end result is a fascinating combination of sounds, lights which will entirely envelop the audience by bringing the spectators inside a universe of unexpected lights and sounds.
